Mairead Jacobs Dougherty, MA, LPC, R-DMT

Mairead (she/her/hers) is a licensed counselor and somatic therapist who specializes in therapy for anxiety, depression, burnout and trauma/PTSD. Her practices welcomes people of all identities and practices affirming care for disabled, neurodiverse, LGTBQIA+ populations.

Mairead holds a Master's degree from Naropa University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in somatic counseling and dance/movement therapy. She utilizes the body and mindfulness in her therapeutic work and takes a trauma-informed approach to counseling.

Mairead enjoys working with both teens and adults, where she utilizes her training in EMDR trauma reprocessing, relational therapy and body-based somatic interventions. Mairead values working with diverse backgrounds as multicultural counseling and social justice are important foundations to her work.

Mairead is a disability rights advocate and an activist for chronic illness and neurodiverse populations. As someone who has lived with chronic illness, Mairead understands the ins and outs of how this can impact a person and their loved ones. Mairead works to dismantle ableism and help individuals learn to cope with their circumstances and heal trauma. Mairead's training can support individuals in connecting to their body, working with unprocessed material, improving relationships, and locating their sense of meaning and empowerment.

Mairead lives in Denver, Colorado. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, cooking, and listening to all types of music. Mairead also loves to travel and can be found offering sessions remotely from beautiful destinations like Hawaii and Portugal!
